Not only is this region amazingly beautiful, but it has also a unique characteristic: the lake Trasimeno.
This peculiarity gives to this region the possibility to have fish and land dishes.

THE TORTA AL TESTO: it is a kind of flat bread filled with whatever you want, following your tastes.
It can be filled with vegetables, cold cuts, cheese etc. and it is perfect for a brief lunch or a picnic.
THE TARTUFO (TRUFFLE): this is undoubtedly one of the most famous mushrooms of the world, because of its goodness and value.
The truffle is a typical Umbrian product, in fact here you can find many different kind of truffle such as: the Scorzone truffle, the high-quality white truffle, the high-quality black truffle and the bianchetto truffle.
THE TEGAMACCIO: is a typical dish of Castiglione del Lago, a small town located close to the lake Trasimeno.
This meal consists on a lake-fish soup cooked on a pan made of terracotta, which is typical of the Umbrian tradition.
THE BRUSTICO: also this meal was born in the area of Trasimeno lake, it consists on grilled lake-fish.
Traditionally the fire for the barbecue needs to be lighted using rods from the lake Trasimeno.
THE BACI PERUGINA: close to the beautiful city of Perugia, we can find one of the most important industries in Italy: the Perugina.
This firm produce chocolate and chocolates since many years, and that’s why we can say that the chocolates called baci Perugina (Perugina kisses) are a typical Umbrian speciality.
